Weddin Shire Council is based in Grenfell which is in the Central West Region of New South Wales within 2 hours drive of Orange, Canberra, Wagga Wagga and Dubbo. The Council has a strong service emphasis and is held in high regard by the community. Council supports its strong agricultural base by providing for large-lot residential development and assisting light industrial developments.

Grenfell will host the 51st Henry Lawson Festival of the Arts from 4th June to 9th June 2008.
