Management Plan

The Local Government Act, 1993, provides a set of principles that are to guide a Council in the carrying out of its functions - the Council's Charter.  The following principles are included in the Charter and highlight the interaction between Council and the Local Community - a major objective of the new Act.

• to exercise community leadership.
• to have regard to the long term and cumulative effects of its decisions.
• to facilitate the involvement of Councillors, members of the Public, users of  facilities and services and Council Staff in the development, improvement and co-ordination of Local Government.
• to keep the local community and the State Government (and through it, the wider community) informed about its activities.

The Act also requires a Council to prepare a Management Plan during each year with respect to:

            (a)        the Council's activities for at least the next three (3) years; and

            (b)        the Council's revenue policy for the next year.

Within the resources and information available, this Management Plan endeavours to meet the requirements of the Local Government Act.

The annual Management Plan in draft form must be placed on public exhibition for a period of 28 days prior to its adoption by 30 June each year.
